The Lore of $WINNING

Are Ya Winning, Son? is an exploitable image series based on an MS Paint webcomic in which a father walks in on his son and asks the iconic question.

While the exact origin is unknown, it may have originated from 4chan due to the use of the name "Anon-kun." On January 11th, 2014, the comic was submitted to an Oculus Rift thread on the RPG Codex Forums.

The phrase "Are ya winning, son?" became an iconic expression of internet culture!

On March 21st, 2014, FunnyJunk user Aejax submitted the comic with the caption "This is the future you chose."

In May 2020, the template saw a massive resurgence with wholesome and anti-meme variations. A Twitter post by @helen gained over 7,000 retweets and 68,000 likes.

The meme evolved to include heartwarming variations like "DAD I WON! - WE'RE SO PROUD OF YOU SON."
